Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American sportscaster. Her employer is ESPN and is an SportsCenter News Anchor. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in 2016. She is the daughter television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is a native speaker of two languages. When she was just nine years old, Collins's capacity to communicate in two languages allowed her to get the job she wanted in Miami as a production assistant for Univision. In this role she was able to collaborate with national program producers like Nuestra Belleza Latina. Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. She was hired as reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, the reporter moved from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about the trafficking of drugs and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was reporter for news for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5 pm. She was a news reporter in English for 9 pm, then a news anchor for 10pm, before returning on the Spanish channel. The station also frequently asked her to fill in as an anchor for weather and sports. Later, she was anchor and reporter at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She covered events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason, as well as the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. She also hosted on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. The show was made a sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She also played the position on Primer Impacto on UniMas Network as well as Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta's parents are originally native to Veracruz Mexico. The family moved to Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November of 1985. There is an older sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. Then, shortly afterward they separated, and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo got married again. He died from kidney cancer in 2006. In June of 2006, she spent an entire week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working there. Antonietta was a senior in high school and had a clear idea of the path she wanted. When she was deciding whether Mount Union is the right choice for her Antonietta went to visit the university. The result was that she enjoyed the university and that the school offered the major she wanted. Following the completion of her high school education, she enrolled in the University to pursue media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the manager of WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked for many years, became her friend. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her faith and confidence, as well as whose enthusiasm in Journalism touched her deeply. She strived to fulfill his expectations, never letting him down.
